Ruby is fine, finallyAround 9-ish at night, I recieved a call from my neighbour's maid (who is quite close to Ruby) saying that she got through the line with Ruby and had just spoken to her.
Thank God..all's fine now..
At least we know that she's safe..
So i got my mom to give her a call immediately and she did as told.
Ruby reported that the situation was really bad over there.
Their entire (or maybe 3/4) house has been destroyed by Typhoon Durian.
No electricity = No light, No clean water = No food.
Yes, no food..they had to rely on the 2 pathetic boxes of biscuits my mom bought for Ruby just before she departed Singapore Airport. (And maybe a box of chocolates)
And i heard that there was no light there at all when it reaches nightfall.
Not even a candle could be found.
Mom asked if she wanted to stay longer with her family since this disaster has happened.
And she quickly answered,
"NO MAM, I WANT TO RETURN TO SG QUICKLY".She claimed that they all had to squeeze at one small corner that is dry and they had to slp on wooden planks.
"Mam, down here everything very very messy, all water around"In addition, I also heard that she got a transit flight from Manila Airport to her province only the next day (30 Nov) of her actual flight (29 Nov).
This means that she stayed at the airport for a whole day.
The original plan for her was to take an hour's journey of bus ride that wld take her from her province's airport to her hometown.
In the end, due to the chaos, no bus could go into her hometown thus decided to lug all her baggages, and walk to her hometown (on bare foot!).
SHE WALKED FOR 6 FRIGGIN' HOURS BEFORE SHE REACHED HER HOME ONLY TO FIND THAT HER HOME WAS IN TOTAL TURMOIL, TOTAL DESTRUCTION.
Fortunately, all her family members are safe and sound..
Just some minor cuts and bruises here and there..
I really take my hat off to Ruby to be able to persevere through such a chaos..
Yet at the same time, Im filled with pity and anxiety cos of their situation they're in now.
My condolences for those who lost their loved ones.
I want Ruby back.
