Ri Ben Chun vs. Sakae Sushi
Saturday, November 28, 2009/4:23 pm
It was a rainy Fri noon.
Snapping away before gg to The Cathay for dinner @ Ri Ben Chun.
It was our first time dining there.
Personally I still prefer Sakae.
Although their (RBC offers 9 slices) Salmon Sashimi is more than that of Sakae's (offers 5 slices only), the ambience and all still loses hands down to Sakae (esp love the outlet at Orchard Central!)
Other than their generous fare of Sashimi, the other food was so-so.

Heard that their sushi was machine-made instead of hand-made.
So their sushi was very loosely packed.

We tried dishes similar to what we have at Sakae.
Soft shell crab, chawanmushi, fried tofu, and other sushi.

For the price that we paid at RBC ($40 plus for 2 ppl), we felt that we could have a better meal at a cheaper price at Sakae ($34 for 2), for the same items eaten at both restaurants.
Maybe cos at Sakae, I'm a member thus discount and add-on promotions that accounts for that cheapcheap $34..

Moreover, at RBC it's semi self-service.
No menu.
Means u have to walk round e restaurant collecting ice cream sticks of the items u want to order.

I'll still choose Sakae over RBC if u ask me..I'd rather be served all the way.
Haha!
